SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Sheboygan basketball star Sam Dekker was called to Monday night’s city council meeting and then presented with the key to the city. Mayor Mike Vandersteen chronicled Dekker’s career from Sheboygan Lutheran’s first state championship to his present role as a starter on the UW basketball team and then, following a standing ovation, Vandersteen presented Dekker with the key to the city. Dekker thanked everyone for their support through his high school years and college. He said he'll never forget the honor and, "I'll always call Sheboygan home."
