SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Of the four candidates seeking to replace Tom Petri as the Republican candidate for the 6th District House seat, one is pushing his private sector experience as the main reason to elect him.
Duey Stroebel of Saukville, on Sheboygan's Morning News, decided this spring to run for Petri’s seat, even if it meant challenging him, because he saw him as not the strong conservative leader the district needs in Washington. While he has been a state Assemblyman since 2011, he is touting his years of experience as a private sector businessman as what is needed most in Congress; someone who will push for less government, lower spending, and fewer regulations. He calls himself a “citizen legislator”, saying he is different from his competitors who have more experience in government.
Stroebel faces Joe Leibham, Glenn Grothman and Tom Denow in the August 12th primary. All four candidates will be on the Jerry Bader Show Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. The primary winner faces Democrat and Winnebago County Executive Mark Harris in the November 4th general election.
