RANDOM LAKE, WI (WHBL) - The Random Lake School District will ask their residents later this year if they will support a maintenance referendum.  Earlier this month the district Board of Education voted to have the $8.5 million question on the November ballot.

Superintendent Tom Malmstadt said what is up for approval are items residents saw on a survey they conducted this spring and had a majority of support.

How the referendum money would be broken down would goes as follow:

-just over $3 million for athletic field improvements and repairs, mainly for drainage issues.

-just under $1.8 million for heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical repairs, mainly addressing two boilers over 40 years old.

-just under $1.5 million for exterior and structural repairs, mainly on a portion of the roof

-around $1.1 million for classroom and common area improvements and repairs such as replacing carpets with tiles and replacing ceiling tiles

-around a half million each for both security and safety measures and technology updates

Malmstadt said the district will be busy getting information out regarding the referendum, both with events held at the school and having school administration and board members attending other community events.

The cost of the referendum would be $11 a year on a $100,000 home.
