MADISON, WI (WHBL) - State Senator Glenn Grothman was the choice among Republicans at the party’s state convention over the weekend to succeed outgoing Tom Petri for the 6th district congressional seat. WisPolitics.com conducted a straw poll and reported that 159 statewide voters chose Grothman while his closest competitor - Senator Joe Leibham of Sheboygan - received 85 votes. Among 6th district voters, 44 chose Grothman while 26 chose Leibham. There will be a three-way GOP primary between Grothman, Leibham and Assemblyman Duey Stroebel.
