OOSTBURG, WI (WHBL) - Sheboygan County Supervisor Devin LeMahieu has changed plans on which state legislative post he will run for this year. The Oostburg Republican will now seek the 9th District State Senate seat being vacated by Joe Leibham. Last month, he announced he would run for the 26th District State Assembly seat being vacated by Mike Endsley, who he lost to in a primary two years ago.
LeMahieu said the he made the switch based on encouragement from local residents and since no other Republican has come forward yet. He added there needs to be a strong Republican to replace Liebham to continue the work that had been done in the state Senate the past few years.
As of now, he would face Democrat Martha Laning of Plymouth in the November general election.
