SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - State Senator Joe Leibham of Sheboygan will announce Tuesday whether or not he will seek the House seat being vacated by Tom Petri.
Leibham has been considering running since he got word from Petri last Friday that the 35 year Congressional veteran would not run for re-election this fall. In a statement Friday, Leibham said he is “thankful and humbled” for all the input from constituents and friends as he considers a run. He will make his announcement at noon Tuesday from his residence with family and friends present.
If he runs, he would face at least two other Republicans in an August primary; state senator Glenn Grothman and state assemblyman Duey Strobel.
Leibham is also up for re-election in the state Senate this fall, and faces a challenge from Democrat Martha Laning of Plymouth.
