SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The latest County Health Rankings had Sheboygan County 12th in the state for health factors and 27th for health outcomes.  Jean Beinemann with the county’s Health and Human Services said these rankings are not the most important factor to consider.

Instead, she references how this report and others they release detail how factors like smoking, alcohol, obesity, environment and work life can impact the chances a person can be healthy in a certain area.  For example, the 2014 report shows some good news in regards to lower obesity, lower smoking numbers and increase activity done by residents.  However, there is a possible red flag for an increase in low weight babies born and continued concerns for alcohol use.

Beinemann says the county and other area medical groups are using this type of data to conduct a current health assessment for Sheboygan County.  The plan will help these groups come up with strategies on how to address current health problems in the county and improve the overall health of residents.  The health assessment will be completed by the end of this year.
