(WHBL) - In a joint decision Tuesday, intercollegiate sports at satellite campuses of UW-Green Bay and four other UW System institutions were cancelled for the upcoming academic year, idling athletic activities at the Sheboygan, Marinette and Manitowoc campuses. The suspension resulted from challenges of cleaning and disinfecting facilities, providing trainers and other logistic issues posed by the coronavirus pandemic. Athletics at satellite campuses of Stevens Point, Eau Claire, Oshkosh and Platteville were also suspended.
Jamie Schramm, the CEO of UW-Green Bay Sheboygan and Manitowoc campuses called the decision “difficult, but necessary." Schramm said solutions are still being pursued for reopening athletic programs in Fall of 2021, and athletes will still be able to use campus facilities for training and practice.
