Another Polar Vortex hits the area

SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - For the second time this month, an extreme arctic air mass is impacting Wisconsin.  Below zero temperatures are expected for highs, and strong winds are dropping wind chills below minus-30.

The winds are also blowing snow from recent storms onto roadways, causing drifting and at times white out conditions.  The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department is asking drivers to slow down, especially on I-43 between Sheboygan and Oostburg.  Lt. Mark Rupnik said that stretch of roadway saw over 20 calls for assistance Saturday morning and eight calls in a two hour period earlier today.

The cold is expected to stick around through Tuesday, and that could force schools, churches and businesses to close or cancel events.  Some schools have made this decision already, including the Sheboygan Area School District.  Keep up to date on the latest cancellations here.
