ELKHART LAKE, WI (WHBL) - Those taking technology education classes in the Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah School District this year will get experience with some 21st century equipment.  Tech Ed teacher John Ostermann said items such as a 3D printer, laser engraver, and CNC router, paid by the district and fundraising, will help students learn more about how manufacturing is done today with the focus on computer controlled understanding.

Ostermann said the district will offer another robotics course.  This comes through a We Energies grant and funding through the district’s education foundation.  The kits have all the items necessary to build a robot and try to complete various challenges.  Those in this course will also be able to take part in statewide competitions, something which was done last school year.

Ostermann said students have reacted positively to the changes for its benefits to their education and possible future careers knowing they can use this equipment that will be prominent in several manufacturing sectors when then enter the workforce.
