Sheboygan County Crash Highlighted

MADISON, WI (WHBL) - The Wisconsin DOT is using a recent accident in Sheboygan County to remind motorists of the state’s Move Over Law.  They posted online Wednesday dash cam video from a state patrol car that was side swiped by a semi while a trooper was conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 43 south of Sheboygan.  The incident didn’t cause any injuries, but did damage the patrol car.  The state’s Move Over Law requires motorists to shift lanes away from any stopped emergency, tow truck or highway maintenance vehicles.  If it is not safe to shift lanes, then motorists must slow down when passing.  All this is designed to create a safety zone for those working along the side of a roadway.  Failure to do so might result in charges and fines.
