SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man has been bound over for trial for allegedly terrorizing his wife and five children over a period of years. 40-year-old Lao Jin made his latest appearance in Sheboygan County Court yesterday for a preliminary hearing for 17 charges that includes child abuse, recklessly endangering safety and intimidating a victim.
Sheboygan Police Detective Tamara Remington detailed what the victims told her regarding Jin’s alleged actions against them. Some of these included use of a dog-like shock collar on one child, striking the mom with a pistol, and threats to end their lives.
Also decided Thursday, Judge Timothy Van Akkeren did approve a defense motion to sever the charges. This means if the case reaches a jury trial, they will be split into seven separate trials, each one coinsiding with an individual victim.
