SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan based construction job training organization has received an AmeriCorps grant. Partners for Community Development will get 104-thousand dollars from the Corporation for National and Community Service.
The money will support eight AmeriCorps members with on-the-job training and learning green construction skills while providing home weatherization in three area counties. It is intended to help them get state certification and lead them to pursuing careers in energy conservation and/or the construction industry.
In a statement, Sheboygan Mayor Mike Vandersteen said the money will help meet pressing local needs and strengthen the city with participants developing civic and leadership skills.
