MADISON, WI (WHBL) - Sheboygan County’s two state senators favor an education tax credit rather than the school voucher program being pushed by Governor Scott Walker. The plan would provide tax credits to parents who send their children to private schools. Senator Glenn Grothman of West Bend says that over the past 20 years the number of students in government funded choice schools has gone up dramatically while enrollment in the independent private schools has plummeted. Senator Joe Leibham of Sheboygan said, “Unlike voucher programs, there are no strings attached to the tax credit and families have the ability to choose the best educational opportunity for their children."
