SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man is facing felony charges after allegedly trying to sexually assault a woman.

31-year-old Tyler Zack faces one count each of second degree sexual assault and substantial battery.

According to a criminal complaint, deputies were called out earlier this month by a woman who was reporting an assault. The 19-year-old victim told deputies that she'd been at the beach a few days before with Zack at a family gathering, and when they got back to her home he started acting weird.

The victim told deputies that he told her to get out of the borrowed swimsuit she'd been wearing. She claims that Zack later started making sexual comments at her, and when she told him off, he attacked her and started groping her. Deputies say she managed to fight him off, but not before he allegedly punched her in the back of the head hard enough to cause a concussion.

The victim told deputies she's not sure what made Zack do this, because he's been a long time family friend and she's never been suggestive at him before. Deputies say she turned over her phone to officers because Zack was continuing to try and contact her after the fact. Zack allegedly even sent text messages while the victim was with deputies, saying that he didn't mean to pull her hair and didn't mean to hit her on the back of the head. He also allegedly texted the victim that she 'didn't say stop' when he tried to grope her.

Deputies took Zack into custody on the charges this week. He's currently free on a $3,000 cash bond and will be back in court next week for a preliminary hearing.
