SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The Sheboygan Falls woman accused of killing her young child is heading to trial.

A judge found enough evidence this afternoon to bind Katlyn Kinateder over for trial on one count each of intentional homicide and hiding a body.

In court on Wednesday, Sheboygan Falls police investigator Doug Hall testified about his reports in the case. Hall says that Kinateder told police that she had "lost her mind" during an interview, and that voices had told her that her two year old son couldn't be alive any more. Police reports in the case also indicated that the two-year-old victim died after likely being suffocated with a Wal-Mart shopping bag.

After the hearing, District Attorney Joe DeCecco stated that he's expecting defense attorneys to enter a plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. "A lot of people have mental health problems. Now this is an extreme example, obviously, if what she says is true, but we'll wait until the medical professionals make a determination and then we'll figure this out."

According to the criminal complaint, Kinateder was arrested earlier this month after allegedly calling dispatch and saying she'd killed her child. Officers quickly responded. Officers were approaching the stairs up into a condominium, when she advanced on police with a large kitchen knife. Officers eventually convinced her to put the knife down, but she started fighting with officers. Police were forced to taze her to take her into custody.

Police and deputies then entered the home and after a search, found the child pulseless and not breathing inside a cardboard box, wrapped up in a blanket. Medical staff were called into to start life-saving efforts, and the boy was transported to St. Nicholas Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Kinateder was taken to the police department and interviewed. She allegedly confessed to suffocating her child with a plastic bag because she "lost her mind". She also allegedly told police she'd stopped taking mental health medications a few months back, and told police she'd come at them with the knife because she wanted them to kill her.

Kinateder is being held on a $750,000 cash bond. She'll be back in court for arraignment August 29th.
