SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Two people are under arrest after a hit and run turned into a police search.
Segeant Joel Kuszynski says police got a call around 9:30 of a hit and run on Union Avenue and South Business Drive. Police were able to spot the suspect vehicle when they arrived, but the driver fled the scene before officers could perform a traffic stop. Officers soon found the car parked in a nearby driveway and two people got out and ran away. Police say one person broke into a nearby garage and stole a bike to get away.
Officers identified the suspects through an investigation, and got a search warrant for a north side home. Officers entered the home, found the stolen bike, and arrested their suspect. The other man turned himself in at the police department a short time later.
Police are not naming the suspects, but say that a 22-year-old Sheboygan is under arrest on charges of eluding police, burglary, driving with a revoked license, obstruction and illegal possession of prescription drugs. A 17-year-old Sheboygan teen is also facing obstruction charges.
Kuszynski reminds residents that people need to get in the habit of keeping their property locked up and secure to prevent burglaries and thefts like this.
