SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Sheboygan man faces charges after allegedly running naked through the streets and assaulting an officer.
29-year-old John Ridenour is charged with assaulting an officer, criminal damage to property, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
According the the criminal complaint, police were called out late Saturday night for a report of a man yelling and screaming in the middle of South 17th Street and Alabama Avenue. The officer parked his car to block Ridenour from going any further into traffic and tried to talk to him. Police say that Ridenour instead started swearing at the officer and walking away. He then allegedly turned and ran at the squad car, and punched the officer in the face.
Police say when Ridenour turned to charge the officer again, the officer was able to grab on to him and get Ridenour to the ground by striking him. Backup arrived on the scene to assist, and officers say that Ridenour started screaming at police and making sexual comments about a woman. Police called for ambulance back up, and Ridenour was sedated and taken from the scene.
Further investigation showed that Ridenour had allegedly broken a mirror off a nearby car.
Ridenour is being held in jail and will be back next week for an adjourned initial appearance.
