WASHINGTON, DC. (WHBL) - Senator Tammy Baldwin took to the floor of the Senate yesterday to call for floor votes for a number of judicial appointments, especially one in Wisconsin.

She says the vacancy is now the longest in the nation. "Today marks 2,378 days that this circuit court seat has been vacant." She calls it an issue that's plagued courts across the country as Republicans have refused to bring those nominees to the floor for a vote. "That is unacceptable and I am calling on the Senate to do its job and vote on this nomination."

The current nominee is Donald Schott, and Baldwin says Senators already agree he's a good choice. "We have a highly qualified nominee who deserves a vote. A vote from this body." She says Schot's nomination has garnered bipartisan support from the Senate Judiciary Committee and that there shouldn't be any obstacles to his appointment.

Last month, Senator Baldwin sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) requesting that he schedule a floor vote on Donald Schott’s nomination. "The people of Wisconsin deserve a fully-functioning federal appeals court to ensure the swift and thorough administration of justice."
