SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- Sheboygan police will be out this weekend for their monthly High Visibility Education and Enforcement DUI patrols.

Police and sheriff's deputies are going to be working the major state highways and the I-43 corridor, enforcing traffic laws and equipment violations and being extremely visible. Sergeant Joel Kuszynski says that, as ever, they aren't just out to arrest people for DUI. "The purpose of the grant and the patrol is not only to have high visibility traffic stops, but also to educate the public to prevent them from driving drunk or driving while impaired."

Kuszynski reminds people that planning ahead can help keep them safe, as well as finding a designated driver, and using the Safe Ride Home program from the Tavern League.

Funding for those patrols comes from federal grants.
