No New Action On Field Of Dreams Sale

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- There's been no action on a possible sale of the Field of Dreams.

The school district announced earlier this month that a settlement had been reached between itself and a group of community members opposing that sale. School board president Marcia Reinthaler said at the time that this would be able to restart the process between the district and Aurora Health, but so far there hasn't been any action. "If we were to get an offer, which we do not have today, we will post an open session, then we'll have community input and then we'll have a board vote."

The open meetings process was a requirement coming out of the settlement according to an editorial that Reinthaler posted to the district's website, and she says the district did follow that requirement the last time. "It was listed for community input at Cooper School and it was voted on two weeks later. So they're asking that we do that again as part of the agreement, and of course we will do that." Reinthaler says she's hoping a new offer will come around again and that the community can get behind the sale this time. "I am hoping that we will have a proposal soon that we can present to the community, that we can improve our community, the athletic fields and the community as a whole for medical facilities, an that we can move Sheboygan forward."

A previous sales agreement on the property between Aurora Health and the school district expired in January, and current deadlines for Aurora and the District say there needs to be a sale on the West Parcel at the Field of Dreams property by the end of 2016, and that action on the new location needs to be taken by August of this year.
