SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- Construction continues on a long delayed bike and pedestrian trial along Taylor Drive.
Sheboygan County planning and lands director Aaron Brault says the Taylor Drive corridor is going to be under construction for the better part of the year. "There's a number of projects that unfortunately all happened at the same time on that corridor, but I guess the positive of that is we get it done in one year and then we can move on." Brault says the project is going to make it much safer for walkers and bikers to move along Taylor Drive once it's complete. "There'll be an asphalt path that runs from Crocker Avenue up to the Taylor Park complex, that will tie into the Urban Rec Trail that runs along Kohler Memorial Drive." The trail will also connect UW-Sheboygan and Lutheran High to the city's trails as well.
Construction on the trail was originally set to start in 2011, but was held up and delayed until this year. The project stems from a $25 million grant the county received from the federal government in 2005 that paid for a number of non-motorized trails throughout the county.
Construction is set to be completed by the end of the summer.
