SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Sheboygan woman facing charges in connection with a heroin overdose in March is now facing hearings in a previous case.
20-year-old Destiny Williams currently faces delivering heroin charges in the case from March, but was previously convicted of child abuse and disorderly conduct in a case dating back to 2014.
Online court records show that Williams pleaded no contest in that case and got a deferred conviction agreement. She was sentenced to 45 days in jail and had the rest of her sentence stayed on the condition that she not be brought to trial on any charges in the future. That changed in March when she was bound over in the overdose case. She could now be sent to prison for up to six years on those charges.
The case continues against her in the death of 19-year-old Dakota Hartl. According to a criminal complaint in that case, Williams allegedly provided the heroin that Hartl overdosed on in March. Police say she then left Hartl in a bathtub and fled the scene after discovering that Hartl was overdosing.
District attorney Joe DeCecco has stated that the charges against Williams may be amended at a later date, but that toxicology reports on Hartl's death have to be finalized before that can happen.
Williams is due in court today on a status confercence in both cases.
