SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Sheboygan man who allegedly tried to force himself on a female companion has been bound over for trial.

A judge found probable cause against 20-year-old Matthew Mair and he pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to third degree sexual assault.

According to a criminal complaint, a woman called police earlier in April to report the assault. She told police that Mair had dated back in high school, but that he'd been sending her texts over the last several weeks to try and set up a meeting. She initially refused, but then agreed, and Mair drove the two of them to McDonald's. She then said that instead of driving her home, he drove past her house after saying "So we going to have sex". She made it clear to officers that it was more of a statement than a question.

The woman claims that Mair forced his hand into her pants and groped her. He drove her to his apartment and tried to get her out of the car while groping her some more. She says she resisted the whole time, and eventually Mair gave up and drove her back to her apartment.

Mair remains free on a cash bond, and will be back in court for a pretrial conference May 31st.
