SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- Sheboygan's Seventh District has an alderman again.
The city council selected Andrew Schneider as the new alderman for the city's 7th district. Schneider says he talked with former council president Don Hammond before submitting his name for the appointment. "I was working closely with Don to understand what it would take to make it onto the city council, and like I said it was a passion of mine, so it was a matter of time before I threw my hat into the ring anyway."
Schneider is the general manager for Lakeside Foods and says his experience running businesses and managing employees will carry through to his time on the city council. He says he'll be working to keep up the work that Hammond started on the council. "I think there's a lot of things to understand about the community, what does it take to keep that family feel in Sheboygan but also how do we prosper as a economically self funding city?"
He defeated Curt Brauer, who serves as a manager for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
