SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- You can expect plenty of slowdowns this year as work is set to rebuild the I-43/Highway 28 Interchange.
The $4.4 million dollar project will rebuild the underpass and the on and off ramps, rebuild the pavement from Taylor Drive to the entrance to Deer Trace, and add new sidewalks and traffic lights.
Kohler police chief William Rutten says drivers will need to be patient. "Our hope is that people take their time while they go through that area, and make sure that they're paying attention to where the workers are and all the other vehicles, and driving with a a safe speed and distance between vehicles."
State officials say the project will improve the driving surface for motorists by replacing deteriorated pavement and also allow for better turning on and off the interstate.
Construction is expected to last through October.
