SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Manitowoc man is facing charges in connection with a September break-in in Sheboygan.

28-year-old Brandon Bryan faces charges of burglary and bail jumping in the case.

According to the criminal complaint, officers were called out to the 1700 block of Ashby Court on September 22 for a report of a burglary at the home. When officers arrived, they talked with the victims, who told police that multiple items had been taken from their home while they were out of the house. Investigation showed that a back door to the home had been jimmied open with a pry bar.

Police were informed by the residents that Bryan had been at the home the day before, asking to take a nap inside. Bryan was at the time a boyfriend of one of the victim's daughters and was told he was not welcome in the home.

In October, one of the electronic devices that was stolen in the burglary was brought into a Gamestop in Manitowoc to be sold. Police went to the Manitowoc Jail where Bryan was being held on other charges, and he told them that a female friend of his was the one who broke into the home and not him. He claimed that she had wanted to get inside and steal a bunch of stuff. He says he had been dropped off at Biolife Plasma Center on the day of the break in, and when he was picked up, the female friend had all those stolen items in the back of her truck.

Offers went to question the woman, who told them Bryan was lying. She said he'd gone with her to Walmart the day of the burglary and then left the store without her for several hours. She got a call from the victim's cell phone while she was at the store, but it was Bryan on the line instead, saying he was coming to get her. They drove back to Manitowoc, and she told police that over the next few days Bryan brought her a number of items he claimed he'd gotten as presents from his ex-girlfriend. Officers executed a search warrant at the woman's home and found many of the stolen items there.

Bryan's case in Sheboygan was on hold because he was going through an unrelated burglary case from Manitowoc County as well. He was just sentenced to two and a half years in prison and two years on extended supervision in that case.

Bryan remains in the Manitowoc County jail, and will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
