SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- The Sheboygan County Tavern League is ready to help you get home on St. Patrick's Day with a Safe Ride Home.

Safe Ride Coordinator Judith Meyer says that while St. Patrick's Day is a very busy day for a number of taverns in Sheboygan, they see steady traffic on the vouchers all year. "We do anywhere between 4,000 to 5,000 Safe Rides Home a year." She says those are provided by the Tavern League at a cost of 7 dollars a piece.

The Tavern League and the Sheboygan Police department have been putting out a media blitz getting people prepared for a major education and enforcement action for St Patrick's Day. Officials say the best way to make it home safely after a night of drinking is to plan ahead, and Meyer say the Safe Ride is a major part of that. "People know they can rely on having a cab ride home, that they can leave their car behind and come back the next day to pick it up."  She does remind people that it's meant to be a safe ride home - and not anywhere else. "It's a safe ride to your home.  It's not to be used from tavern to tavern. It's home only."

You can find out more about the Safe Ride Home program by asking the bartender or server at any Tavern League establishment.
