SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Sheboygan man faces OWI charges after being spotted driving drunk by an ambulance.
53-year-old Darryl Hebert faces a charge of 4th time OWI and driving with a prohibited alcohol concentration.
County dispatch got a call from an Orange Cross ambulance early Friday morning of a vehicle swerving back and forth and driving on Highway 23 and Taylor Drive. Officers spotted the vehicle on Erie Avenue and pulled it over. The driver turned off his car and then had a hard time getting his window down or getting his wallet out to present his ID. He was identified as Hebert, and the officer had him get out to do some field sobriety tests. Hebert had to be stopped during the middle of those tests because he was unable to remain upright.
Hebert admitted to having a few drinks, and then heading to Plymouth to pick up the car he was driving in. He also told the officer that he'd taken a few Xanax a few hours beforehand as well. A preliminary breath test showed that Herbert had a BAC of 0.13 and further testing raised that number to 0.16.
Hebert remains in jail on a $1,500 cash bond and will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
