SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Outgoing Sheboygan Mayor Terry Van Akkeren says he will be meeting with Mayor-elect Mike Vandersteen to turn over the office. Van Akkeren was on Sheboygan’s Morning News Thursday following Tuesday’s election, which he lost by 197 votes. He said the city moves on no matter who sits in the mayor's chair. He called being the mayor of Sheboygan a life-long dream. Van Akkeren had served on the county board, city council and in the state assembly for 8 years before being elected in last year’s recall election. He said this was his last election and now it's time to spend time with his family.
