SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A former Sheboygan alderman will find out today how much time he will spend behind bars for his sexual encounters with teenage boys spanning more than a decade.
34-year-old Kevin Matichek was charged over a year ago in Sheboygan County with second-degree sexual assault of a child after Sheboygan Police investigated a claim from a teenage male that he had sexual encounters with Matichek for months beginning in the summer of 2014.
Subsequent investigations led to similar charges for an Ozaukee County case, where the encounters lasted several years beginning in 2002, along with more charges in Sheboygan County for possessing child pornography and a public officer accepting a bride.
In December a plea deal was reached where Matichek pleaded no contest to the sexual assaults and bribe charges, and a recommendation of five years of incarceration was put forward.
Judge L. Edward Stengel will make the final decision for these cases, but it will not be the end of Matichek’s legal troubles. Outagamie County prosecutors charged him last month for his alleged actions in that county back in 2014.
