SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - The start of 2016 saw Sheboygan County’s housing market get off to a better start compared to 2015.
The latest data from the Wisconsin Realtors Association shows 66 homes were sold in the county last month, up three units compared to January of 2015. What took a bigger jump was the median price for homes sold in the county, which grew nearly 14-thousand dollars to 126-thousand, two-hundred dollars.
The increase in home prices was greater than the statewide average of just over ten-percent, which rarely happened for Sheboygan County last year. Still, the number of homes sold in the county was less than the statewide average increase of nearly ten-and-a-half percent.
WRA officials credit a mild winter and a continuation of 2015’s sales patterns for the continued home sales growth in Wisconsin. As for prices, they say that is due to the higher demand and continued low supply of homes on the market, although this did not cause as great of a price increase as they first projected.
