SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A traffic stop on Halloween has led to a Sheboygan man having to serve 120 days in jail, along with serving three years of probation, and 36 months each of having his driver’s license revoked and a requirement to use an ignition interlock.
28-year-old Matthew Leveque was given the sentence by Judge Rebecca Persick after he reached a plea deal where he pleaded no contest to the OWI charge and a count of bail jumping. Additional charges of operating with a PAC, operating with a revoked license, and possessing amphetamine were dismissed.
The criminal complaint stated Plymouth Police conducted a traffic stop for not having headlights on. The driver, identified as Leveque, claimed his passenger was drunk and that he only had a few drinks. However, officers arrested him after he failed field sobriety tests.
