SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The accident that shut down part of Lakeshore Drive on Sheboygan’s far north side the evening of February 17th only involved one person.  That person is now facing his seventh OWI offense and other charges for how he allegedly acted following the accident.

Sheboygan County prosecutors charged 48-year-old Brent Krebsbach Friday with the OWI felony, along with misdemeanors for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license and disorderly conduct.

The criminal complaint begins by saying Sheboygan Police and Sheboygan Fire Department members were called to the accident scene on Lakeshore Drive near Pine Bluff Drive.  There they discovered that a van, which was parked along the road, had been struck by a truck that had ended up off the road with the driver still inside.  The driver, identified as Krebsbach, was assisted out of the vehicle by emergency personnel and transported to Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center for treatment.

During the time he was at the accident scene and the medical center, Krebsbach is described to have been uncooperative with officials and medical personnel.  This included using profane language, saying multiple times that he wanted to leave, and not submitting to a chemical test of his blood until District Attorney Joe DeCecco responded with a search warrant.

Krebsbach was also exhibiting signs of being under the influence of alcohol:  swaying when walking around, smelling of alcohol, and slurred speech.  At the hospital, he claimed to have not gone to the bathroom despite being in there several times before, and is alleged to have urinated on himself on one occasion.

Krebsbach’s alleged behavior also continued after he was taken to the Sheboygan County Detention Center, where he gave the impression to officials that he didn't care about the charges he would be facing.

He now faces over 11 years in prison if he is found guilty of the charges.
