SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan woman avoided state prison time as a sentence was handed down this week for her role in a heroin overdose in September.
Judge James Bolgert allowed 27-year-old Alicia Sawicki to only serve two years probation for a charge of possessing a narcotic drug, instead of one year in state prison and two years extended supervision. Court records show that the probation will be served at the same time for a felony case in Ozaukee County in 2014.
According to the criminal complaint, Sheboygan Police were called to a gas station in the city after a 20-year-old man became unconscious. A worker at the station said they noticed the man entered a bathroom, stayed in there for ten to fifteen minutes, then came out and a short time later collapsed.
Investigators found evidence of heroin use and, once the man recovered, he claimed Sawicki helped him to get the heroin that he took.
