SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A one-vehicle accident on Sheboygan’s northwest side back in September has led to a Sheboygan man facing 15 days in the local jail, plus 16 months each of losing his license and needing to use an ignition interlock.

That was the sentence handed down by Judge Rebecca Persick against 23-year-old Fernando Canseco last week after he reached a plea deal with prosecutors.  He pleaded guilty to a second OWI charge and one count of bail jumping and, in return, charges of operating with a revoked license, operating with a PAC, and another bail jumping offense were dropped.

The criminal complaint  states Sheboygan Police were called to the 3300 block of North 21st Street  on September 6th for a vehicle striking a pole.  Officers did not find the driver on scene, but an investigation connected Canseco to the incident.

While Canseco claims his vehicle’s brakes failed and caused the accident, officers had him perform field sobriety tests, which he failed and led to his arrest and charges.
