SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Thursday evening will be the first opportunity for skate boarders, scooter riders, BMX bikers, and inline skaters to let the City of Sheboygan know what they want in a new skate park.

The first of three public meetings is being held at Mead Public Library starting at 6 p.m.

Mayor Mike Vandersteen says the city will be working with the designing firm Stantec for the new attraction. “Not only are they going to look at what kind of features it might have, but we’re also having them evaluate the different sites and different parks around the city.”

Vandersteen adds the purpose of the meeting is to find out what people who will be using the park want to see.  “This is more of a time for people to come in and tell them what they want, where they want it, and we’re there to listen and take that information and filter it into a plan that’s accomplishable.  We want to build something that’s going to be good for the youth of our community and something that will last into a number of years into the future.”
