SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - An 18 year old is facing charges after he led law enforcement on a 20 mile pursuit in western Sheboygan County Wednesday night.
Lieutenant Jason Liermann with the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department says it began around 10:45 p.m. when a deputy tried to stop a vehicle near the intersection of county road U and T southwest of Greenbush in regards to a check welfare complaint.
The vehicle did not stop for the deputy and that led to the pursuit across the townships of Greenbush, Mitchell and Plymouth - at times reaching speeds up to 75 miles per hour.
Liermann says the pursuit ended when a spike strip punctured three of the suspect’s tires, and he was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect is in the Sheboygan County Detention Center, and a charge of operating a vehicle to elude an officer has been referred to the District Attorney’s office.
Liermann adds there were no injuries or property damage, and the department was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol and Plymouth Police.
