SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man was sentenced last week for fleeing officers while they were trying to take him into custody.  36-year-old George Harris will have to spend 39 days in the local jail after he pleaded no contest to a resisting/obstructing an officer offense.

The criminal complaint states Sheboygan Police were called to the 1400 block of South Tenth Street November 10 after getting word that a wanted suspect was in the area.  The officer noticed Harris, who had a warrant out for him, enter a vehicle, forcing the officer to conduct a traffic stop.

When the officer got to the vehicle and informed Harris of his warrant, Harris was able to get away from the officer and flee.  This led to a foot chase for several blocks, resulting in Harris and the officer climbing over a chain link fence and Harris going through bushes to try to get away.  The chase ended when Harris was unsuccessful in trying to climb a six-foot wood plank fence, and he gave himself up.
