SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Manitowoc woman was recently sentenced to 30 days in jail and 12 months probation for stealing several items from Menards in Sheboygan back on New Year’s Eve of 2013. Judge Rebecca Persick gave this sentence to 22 year old Jessica Vice after she pleaded no contest to one count of retail theft.
The charge came about after the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department was called to the store to investigate a theft of distance measuring tools and a digital inspection camera.
The criminal complaint states a store employee used surveillance video to show the deputy that a male and female were seen in the area of the store where these items are located, and noticed they took the items and left without paying.
On January 2, the department was called back to the store after the male in the video was seen trying to return items to the store for refunds without receipts. The deputy took the male back to his vehicle, where Vice was located. She reportedly broke down and confessed that she took the items in question in order to return them to the store to get money for food.
A Menards regional worker informed the department that the male had attempted to return items to several store locations that day totaling over 500 dollars.
