SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - Sheboygan County’s housing market saw its 2015 end on a somewhat down note, with a third straight month of lower home sales compared to the previous year.
According to data from the Wisconsin Realtors Association released Monday, the county sold 84 homes in December. That is down four units from the same month in 2014, a decline of four-point-five percent. There was good news in regards to the median price for a home sold, as the county did see that increase by three-point-five-percent to over 133-thousand.
Throughout 2015, Sheboygan County has typically been below the statewide average when it comes to the housing sales on a monthly basis. December's numbers followed that trend as the WRA’s data showed home sales last month across Wisconsin were nearly nine-percent higher than December in 2014. The median price for a home sold was up three-point-seven percent.
Now that 2015 is all said and done, Sheboygan County had an up and down year. The good news is more homes were sold in the county than in 2014. WRA members sold a total of 1,333 units in the county, 33 more than in 2014, resulting in an increase of two-point-five-percent. The median price for a home sold was 125-thousand, five-thousand more than the average for 2014.
However, Wisconsin as a whole did much better, with 11-point-four-percent more holes sold in 2015 compared to 2014. Also, the median price was up just over five percent to 155-thousand-five hundred. The WRA says home sales were at their highest level since 2005.
