SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - It’s an incident where one person suffered a fractured jaw from a fight that occurred at a Sheboygan home New Year’s Day.  How the fight came about and who was all involved depends on who is asked about it.

Four people are accused of being involved, as Sheboygan County prosecutors charged them Friday.  18 year olds Vang Vue and Xeng Xiong, along with 17 year olds Teng Vue and Krong Yang each face a substantial battery felony.

The criminal complaints against the four are the same, which details how Sheboygan Police got involved with their investigation.

It began on January 1 when officers were called to Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center in reference to an assault.  The victim told officers he wanted to handle the situation culturally and did not want to get police involved.  That changed on January 6 when the victim and his girlfriend went to police to report the incident, which occurred at a home on South 21st Street January 1.

The two of them reportedly told officers they were at the home for a Christmas party when five males they knew entered the home, four of them being the suspects.  The five found the two and one of them asked the victim if he was saying bad things about his sister.  This discussion continued for several minutes until the victim believes Yang punched him in the face.  That began a free-for-all, with the victim felt he was being punched by the five males from all angles for several minutes.  The skirmish ended when the girlfriend alerted some of her family members elsewhere in the home, causing the five males to leave the home.

Sheboygan Police took the four suspects  into custody the next day, and three were interviewed by officers.  The three said they went to the home New Year’s Day and a fight occurred with the victim, whose girlfriend was an ex-girlfriend of one of them.  Their stories, however, differ.

Yang Vue reportedly told police the five were invited to the home, and at one point they spotted the victim and girlfriend.  When they got together, Vue says the victim reportedly asked if they wanted trouble.  He adds it was Xiong who threw the first punch, and that he tried to stop the fight and claims not to have thrown a punch.

Teng Vue believes the fight broke out due to the ex-boyfriend being jealous of the victim.  He adds all but Vue were involved in the fight, and he admitted to throwing punches.

Krong Yang claims the ex-boyfriend was the one to convince the other four to go to the party because he was upset with his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend, the victim.  He adds when they were all together the fight escalated quickly, and that he and Teng Vue were not directly involved due to the size of the room in the home where the fight occurred.

As of now, the four suspects are each facing up to three and a half years in prison, plus fines up to 10-thousand dollars, if found guilty of their battery charge.
