SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - This past Tuesday was the deadline for local residents to submit their nomination papers to get on the ballot for spring elections.  Most of the possible high profile races in Sheboygan County will see the incumbent running unopposed.

That is the case for 24 of the 25 seats up for a vote for Sheboygan County’s Board of Supervisors.  The only seat that will change is District 21, which represents the Village of Oostburg and part of the Town of Wilson.  Current supervisor Brian Hilbelink decided not to run, and no one submitted papers to get on the ballot.

In the City of Sheboygan, nine of the ten seats on the Common Council have one person running unopposed.  Eight of them are the incumbent, with the only exception being District Two where Tammy Rabe will run for a one year term.  The other change on the council will be in District Five, where incumbent Julie Kath has decided not to run for re-election.  Former alderpersons Jodi VanderWeele-Bonnett and Scott Lewandoske have submitted papers to be on the ballot.

In the City of Sheboygan Fall, there will be one competitive race.  In District 3, incumbent Dawn Beimel will face a challenge from Robert Spatz.  All other races have the incumbent running unopposed, including Mayor Randy Meyer, Municipal Court Judge David Specht, First District Alderperson Terry Van Engen, and Second District Alderperson John Raml.

In the City of Plymouth, all five seats up for election will have the incumbent running unopposed.  That includes Mayor Don Pohlman, First District Alderperson Greg Hildebrand, Second District Alderperson Jim Sedlacek, Third District Alderperson James Faller, and Fourth District Alderperson Shawn Marcom.

Everyone in the county will be eligible to vote in the statewide race for a Supreme Court Seat, with the primary set for February 16 and the general election April 5.  A reminder that IDs will be needed to vote following the end of legal challenges last year.
