Christmas Tree Pickup Begins

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - With the recent holiday seasons now over, local municipalities are preparing to handle Christmas trees.

The City of Sheboygan will collect trees for recycling starting January 4, with pick-up on the same day that one’s garbage is picked up.  Anyone who is recycling a tree is reminded to remove all ornaments and decorative lights, and not to put them in plastic bags. That is because the trees are ground into wood chips that are later made available to the public.

People can also drop off trees at the Public Works Department on New Jersey Avenue.

In the City of Sheboygan Falls, Christmas trees can only be dropped off at the Department of Public Work’s Compost Site.

For other locations, contact your local government entity or garbage pickup companies to find out what should be done with trees and other natural Christmas decorations.
