FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WHBL/KFIZ) - Law enforcement in Fond du Lac County had a busy Christmas holiday weekend with two noted incidents, a high speed chase and an armed robbery.
The first incident was the high speed chase late Saturday morning, resulting in the arrest of a 19 year old Milwaukee man. The stolen vehicle he was driving came from Winnebago County, and was spotted by a sheriff's deputy traveling at 97 miles per hour southbound on I-41 near County Road N. Stop sticks were used just south of Fond du Lac, which forced the driver to lose control of the vehicle and enter the median. The Milwaukee man did try to flee on foot, but he was taken into custody. He is being held in the Fond du Lac County jail pending charges.
The second incident, the armed robbery, occurred Sunday morning at a Family Dollar in Fond du Lac. Police say a man between the ages of 25 and 30 wearing a ski mask approached a clerk, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The suspect fled the scene with an unknown amount of money in a maroon/rust colored Ford Bronco or old Blazer style SUV. Police say no one was injured, and anyone with information on the suspect or crime are asked to contact them.
