SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan Falls man will have to serve four months of jail time and four years on probation for violent behavior against his girlfriend’s four children earlier this year.
Judge L. Edward Stengel sentenced 41 year old Jerry Voelker last week after a two day jury trial in October found him guilty of four counts of physical abuse of a child, plus one count of disorderly conduct.
According to the criminal complaint, Voelker was accused of harming the four kids, ranging in age from nine to 13, over a period of several days in late May. Some of the actions included punching a child where they had a sprained ankle, punching a child in the mouth after stubbing his toe on toys, and hitting a child in the shin with steel toed boots.
Law enforcement was informed after a counselor at Sheboygan Falls Middle School was notified of violence at the household. Charges were officially brought against Voelker nearly two months later.
