Kohler, WI (WHBL) - Dozens of United Auto Workers Union members lined the streets outside the American Club at Highland Drive and School Street. This comes amid a looming midnight Saturday deadline for the parties to hammer out an agreement on a new worker contract.
Union leaders have indicated that they are not willing to extend the negotiation period, saying concessions made by workers during the economic recession that began in 2008, were in good faith, to benefit the company. But, workers say the company is in much better shape now, and better terms and conditions are warranted.
During the economic downturn, workers agreed to a wage freeze, and to bear the brunt of higher healthcare costs.
