Polk County, WI (WHBL- KFIZ) - The Polk County District Attorney is facing OWI and speeding charges after a traffic stop in Fond du Lac County Monday night.
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says a deputy stopped Daniel Steffen on Highway 23 near Hickory Road, which is closer to the Sheboygan County line.
Steffen was stopped for going 70 mile per hour and was arrested for being under the influence . he was also driving a county vehicle at the time.
Olig says Steffen was cooperative with the deputy and took a breathalyzer test, which allegedly registered .11 blood alcohol content.
Steffen is scheduled to appear in court on December 7th. Since this marks Steffen's first OWI offense he was released to a responsible party.
Steffen was reportedly He was on his way to a conference in Elkhart Lake. His passengers were two victim witness coordinators.
