SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Sheboygan’s Common Council will meet Monday evening as a Committee of the Whole to discuss several matters related to how its government will function in the future. The meeting will take up three proposals brought forward by alderpersons Darryl Carlson and John Belanger.
Mayor Mike Vandersteen tells WHBL News one proposal would reduce the size of the council from its current 16 members to 10. "The districts would mimic the ten supervisory districts the county has, and so it’s an easy way for us to do this between censuses and adjust the size of the council."
If approved, the plan would have the council reduced over several years through elections.
The council will also discuss proposals that would eliminate the City Administrator position following the retirement of Jim Amodeo next year, and lowering the amount of money alderpersons are paid each year to four-thousand dollars.
The Committee of the Whole meeting will start at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
