SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man will serve one year in state prison for hurting his girlfriend last May in a domestic abuse incident.

Judge James Bolgert sentenced 44 year old Robert Drone last week to the jail time and one year extended supervision after Drone pleaded no contest this month to charges of strangulation/suffocation, and false imprisonment.  Drone also faced substantial battery and intimidation charges, but Judge Bolgert dismissed them.

A criminal complaint stated Sheboygan Police were called to the home the two shared back in May for a disturbance. After officers knocked several times, they broke in to find Drone and his girlfriend inside.

The victim told officers she was trying to talk to Drone about possible cheating when he reportedly attacked her, causing several injuries, and kept her from answering the door when officers knocked.  She added that similar physical incidents took place over the seven years she has been with him.
